StorAmerica Storage Facility

The StorAmerica Storage Facility is located right on Encinitas Boulevard, a street that is used by pedestrians more and more to access new coffee shops and other businesses in the neighborhood. The building has a very utilitarian shape. Perhaps the owner should have done a bit more research on how to make a heavy and windowless building look more pleasing, light and modern. Instead what they ended up with is two types of beige brown block and two types of dark metal panels, and all of these colors are completely uncoordinated.

The second floor has a white space that is lit with blue lights at night and it looks very foreign and out of place. The red awnings are maybe an attempt to dress the building up, but instead they added yet another warm stuffy tone to the pallet. It’s all dirty browns, grays and reds mixed together, with blue tinted windows. The building belongs in a industrial area like Miramar, not in the middle of Encinitas.
