Sharp Rees-Stealy Santee Medical Office Building

The Sharp Rees-Stealy Santee Medical Office Building is a three-story medical facility that consolidates multiple specialties into one state of the art destination for the residents of East County. Inspired by the local landscape, the building features multiple viewpoints to the surrounding mountains, a unique undulating roof line that corresponds to the silhouette of the distant hillside, and a color palette that reflects the warm hues of the local granite.

Laid out using a simple diagrammatic approach, the facility opens towards the community with a “jewel box” stairway that is highly visible from the surrounding streets and strategically placed as the primary means to navigate between floors. The services include pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, OBGYN and optical shop in addition to primary, specialty and urgent care; providing a one-stop care destination for the community outpatient needs.  A novel micro-grid system uses a combination of PV, batteries and smart management system to provide emergency power to the facility, minimizing disruption due to black-outs and reduces the need to use a diesel back-up generator.
