Grossmont College Performing and Visual Arts Center

The Grossmont College Performing and Visual Arts Center includes a 390-seat theater with a professional performance stage, orchestra pit and balcony for student performances. Not only is the center a versatile space for numerous activities – including instructional music and dance rooms, a large theater, and an entire art gallery; it is also a building designed to beckon its guests in for a memorable experience of the arts.

The tallest building at Grossmont College, it stands at the forefront of the campus, proudly welcoming visitors and creating a sense of awe.  Its glass facade and sleek angles give the building the modernity and elegance of a premiere arts center in a major city, yet it fits comfortably into the Grossmont campus.  The value of this community theater and art gallery is exemplified by the beautiful design and array of opportunities this center provides that were not previously available to community members and those studying the arts. High school students, college students, and community members all have a place here that they can be proud of, both for its function and its allure.

As a resident of La Mesa community and a Grossmont College alumnus, I followed the development of this project closely, and I am very pleased with the way it turned out.  My wife and I met on campus several years ago and I cannot wait to have an opportunity to take her to a theater performance at this stunning Performing Arts Center.
