The 13-acre Pacific Highlands Ranch Community Park was designed with significant community input to facilitate community gathering, encourage social interaction, and to provide a variety of recreational amenities for the local community. The central promenade functions as a strong connection to the neighborhood Village Center retail area, multifamily housing, and the future library. An entry garden, discovery play garden, parkour area, children’s play areas, basketball courts, and picnic area are located in the heart of the park adjacent to the 17,000-square-foot recreation center.
The recreation center offers opportunities for athletic and community-based functions in the central gymnasium, separate multi-purpose building, and large flexible outdoor courtyard. The promenade opens to a five-acre multi-purpose turf field anchored on the north by a signature shade structure and softball field on the south. A half-mile loop pathway and trail connects the amenities around the field with fitness stations and seating. In addition, there is a skate plaza, dog park, and the extremely popular first pump track constructed in a City of San Diego park. Pacific Highlands Ranch Community Park embraces the walkable nature of the community and utilizes joint-use parking at the adjacent school sites to minimize the need for on-site parking.
