March of the Elephants Fence, Balboa Park

One of the hidden beautiful walkways in Balboa Park between the Zoo and Spanish Village has been tarnished with the addition of a 10′ chainlink fence topped with barbed wire. Perhaps it is a temporary construction fence while the zoo expands, and if so, signage should explain this – the zoo does such great graphics – this could be fun. If the fence really is necessary, it wouldn’t have taken much to move it back from the edge of the walkway a little bit and blend it in with the adjacent landscape.
