EV Lofts is a five-story residential building fronting 13th Street between Market and G Streets in the East Village District of downtown San Diego. Covering three-quarters of a city block, the property includes 208 midrise and ground level apartments with studio, one and two bedroom residences, plus two ground level retail spaces of approximately 2,660 square feet each. In addition, the building includes common areas for residents at the ground floor and an extensive rooftop deck.
This project was designed for Oliver McMillan, whose innovative and strategic partnerships, combined with their focused blend of style and contemporary awareness, has made them a prominent name in the design and development world. The project team included: Pappageorge Haymes out of Chicago, local architect AVRP, and Spurlock Poirier Landscape Designers. The concept was minimalist architecture with an art and graphics oriented interior, in efforts to be contextual to its market, but to also stand out as a project whole.
As a flagship for the design improvement of the East Village District, EV is a testament to how a well-designed space can bring together all elements of the community it supports in a symbiotic relationship between a city, its residents, and the surrounding environment.
