Crack Shack Encinitas is the 2nd addition to the Crack Shack Restaurant Concept pioneered by Rosen, Blais, Sloan, and Pena. Following it’s big Brother in Little Italy, the Encinitas location repurposes & transforms a dated structure to bring new life and character to the site and the community. The site, formerly a Coco’s and Azar’s Big Boy, had fallen into neglect and disrepair. After “cracking open the shell” and stripping away layers of faux wood paneling, lay-in ceiling tile, and moldy carpet, this rusty little nail revealed a beautiful skeleton of a building beneath. The project features original douglas fir t&g siding, large gluelam beams, and brick. Other transformations include custom wall murals (by local artist Matt Forderer), a retractable roof, cornhole arena, and custom designed furniture.
