Landscape Architecture

BioLegend, Sorrento Valley

The campus design features an amenity rich campus setting and provides a diverse range of passive and active spaces, at multiple scales. The design creates environments that promotes collaboration, innovation, respite, and recreation. The scale of the buildings, program elements, and open space adjacencies allow colleagues to work in concert with one other, which further reinforces a sense of community and culture within the company. Every facet of the project is inspired by the science that drives the organization.

A significant kinetic sculpture “BioMa”, inspired by BioLegend’s mission, anchors the front entry greeting employees and visitors as they arrive on campus. The campus includes a central green which hosts numerous annual events and symposiums. The central green is framed by a game court, outdoor dining pavilion, community garden, and shaded amphitheater.  An expansive green roof provides an elevated perch for gathering and team-building. The landscape design features a low water-use and climate appropriate plant palette and a series of interconnected treatment swales which reflect BioLegend’s commitment to sustainability and conservation.
