A lively full-service showroom and ‘working office’, THiNK Office Interiors is located in over 3,200sf of storefront space in downtown San Diego. The designers at ID Studios took their inspiration from the ever-evolving urban atmosphere of San Diego’s East Village.
Several structural and finish elements were repurposed and reused during the renovation of the office/showroom space and existing lighting was salvaged wherever possible. Structural support beams and trellises hover above the open office workstations creating a more intimate space for employees. Light maple and bare concrete floors were revived with a fresh new coat of sealant. While the rough exposed concrete walls now add to the texture of the downtown office interior.
Interior feature walls boast reclaimed wood emphasizing THiNK’s commitment to eco-friendly design while paying homage to the nearby ship yards. The addition of the chrome plated 5-star chair bases (reminiscent of THiNK’s logo) creates a surprising and dynamic focal point. While the full-height graffiti tagged column (featuring furniture manufacturers) serves as colorful juxtaposition to the entertainment space and reinforces the connection to the downtown setting.
Visible from the sidewalks of San Diego’s East Village, full-height exterior glazing allows curious pedestrians to peer into the active showroom. The open bar and colorful kitchen spice up the entertainment area for clients, designers, and industry partners, open ceilings of over 17’ high, provide ample space for the large industrial styled light fixtures placed around the perimeter storefront glazing, while the oversize accent pendant fixture helps anchor the low profile lounge seating in the lobby.
Modern technology also rears its head in the design. A specially designed app controls almost every aspect of the showroom space with a touch of a button… literally. TV’s, projectors, HVAC, lighting, sound are all synched to iPad and iPod technology.
The Designers envisioned a vibrant, fun and inspiring work/showroom that expressed THiNK’s philosophy “environment affects your behavior!”
