The west facade of this new center for stem cell research, adjacent to the Salk Institute and UCSD, recalls Safdie's Habitat '67. A welcome addition to an area which is already dense with architecturally significant projects. It's just too bad that the eastern facade, facing the street, is not equally as creative and interesting.
This project is expected to receive LEED Gold certification.
