A walkable, more compact retrofit of the 1960's suburban, single-family detached housing and administration building destroyed during San Diego's 2007 fires. The County of San Diego Supervisor's Ron Roberts and Greg Cox directed General Services (Thomas Fincher and Dahvia Lynch), and a team of consultants (Howard Blackson and Nick DeLorenzo) redesigned the site from a suburban, auto-centric, disconnected area to a more appropriately walkable campus. Designed in 2011 and built in 2012, recently received the US West building industry's Gold Nugget award.
