Although this art installation makes for a great photo opportunity, I am not sure I get its relevance. Yes - it is a great engineering feat. Yes - it makes you stop and look. But it is just a scaled down replica of a historic house in a unique location. Nothing really artistically challenging about that in my opinion.
Plus, is it really public art? Needs to be accessed through the building and only during the hours of 11-2 Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to UCSD website. $1.3 million could have been better spent.
