The major concept for the design of Cushman + Wakefield’s new San Diego location was to create a welcoming light, modern, collaborative, social and flexible environment with an international flair, to reflect the global reach of the company. Cushman & Wakefield partnered with ID Studios to create an efficient, open and collaborative work environment, fostering improved communication among employees and service lines.

ID Studios focused on the concept of maximizing the inherent qualities of the space to allow maximum natural light penetration into the space creating a light & bright feeling throughout their 9th floor location. Public spaces are centrally located along the north-south axis bridging through the elevator lobby that connects the two opposing sides of the space and serves as an orientation point for the environment. The idea behind these bridged meeting and board rooms was to create a flexible environment including retractable clear glass walls that allow the staff to arrange the office for best use during marketing & staff functions.

The full-height glass walls allow for transparency and visibility between work and meeting spaces. These items were also partnered throughout with open, exposed ceiling design; natural stone flooring at public spaces with carpet tile at work areas; stainless steel accents offset with the warmth of wood features in ceilings, walls, millwork & furnishings, all coming together to create a clean, modern, sophisticated design reflecting the firm’s international status and contributing to the ongoing quality of corporate space in the LEED certified, Class A landmark building known as La Jolla Commons.
