La Mesa City Hall

onion

The La Mesa City Wall - that's right, WALL not Hall - because of the wall built around the structure. La Mesa has accomplished what they set out to do, bulid a fortress which in very uninviting. This is an ONION all the way.

This structure is part of the City of La Mesa general plan to relocate the police department.  As part of the plan, they have already completed a new fire department, library and post office contiguous to this newest addition, and a new city hall is in the future.  This is a key corner in the City of La Mesa - an introduction to the city government, and represents the gateway to the city's new facilities.  And yet, the 10' block wall is more of an obstruction.  As you will see, the main entrance of this building faces the middle of the parking lot.

Bleak Was My First Thought

Wow it's a real cohesive community destination now! Lets see LM is a nice community of unique homes & buildings built primarily between 1900-1980, with a nice mix of architectural styles, and this architectural style is ....????

Like the Building, dislike the wall

What isolates this building from the community is the 6 foot tall barrier around the perimeter. The building might blend in - who can tell with the solid, pedestrian-alienating barricade all around it.

Can this get the Grand

Can this get the Grand Onion? The City of La Mesa should be ashamed of themselves...they destroyed a wonderful cluster of Mid-Century Modern designed buildings to drop a massive pile of beige crudcatectue right next to the Village.

Grand Onion - Yes!

Great suggestion.
